Tau Chapter was chartered on the campus of Virginia Union University on Tuesday, January 29, 1929 by Thelma Woodfolk Wilson, Mary Smith Robinson, Mildred Lee Tynes, Alice LaRoche, and Nellie Lee. Tau Chapter is the oldest undergraduate chapter in the Northeast Region of Sigma Gamma Rho. Tau Chapter is also the mother chapter of the Iota Sigma Alumnae Chapter. In 1994 Tau chapter received awards from VUU for highest GPA and Most Community Service Hours out of all of the Greek Lettered Sororities.  That same year at the Northeast Regional Conference Tau Chapter placed 1st in the Regional Step Competition.

epsilon zeta chapter

Epsilon Zeta Chapter was established on February 23, 1973. It was the beginning of a new era of scholarship, sisterhood and service on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. At the end of a four month period which started in October 1972, Epsilon Zeta was chartered. The six charter members were Yulanda Jordan, Cynthia Jackson Greene, Lorraine Monroe, Lynda D. Moore, Shirley L. Smith, and LaVita Stephens Jackson.

Omicron Omicron Chapter

Omicron Omicron was chartered on March 20, 1999 by Nikesha Houston-Jackson, Katherine Dierker, Kedra Williams-Jemmott, Anitra Harris-Doherty, Karen-Kim Lian Chen-Darden, Karen Masakayan-Hom and Loretta Parham-Friday. 27 sorors have since come through Omicron Omicron chapter. Omicron Omicron has won many awards for outstanding scholastic achievement over the years. All 27 sorors have obtained their degrees. One soror is currently a high school assistant principal and one charter member is pursuing her doctoral degree.
